Ready to transform your backyard into a thriving garden space? Join us for an evening of hands-on craftsmanship where you'll build a custom raised garden bed using locally sourced Kentucky Coffee Tree wood β a remarkable material choice that sets your garden up for long-term success.
Why Kentucky Coffee Tree?
This native hardwood is nature's gift to gardeners. With exceptional rot resistance comparable to cedar and white oak, Kentucky Coffee Tree wood creates garden beds that stand the test of time. Its dense grain and natural resistance to decay make it perfect for ground contact applications, while its beautiful honey-brown color ages gracefully in outdoor settings. As a locally sourced material, it's also an environmentally conscious choice that connects your garden directly to our Missouri landscape.
In this workshop, you'll:
Design and build a garden bed 2β x 1β
Learn essential woodworking skills applicable to future projects
Master proper joinery techniques for weather-resistant construction
Understand the unique properties of Kentucky Coffee Tree wood
Create a garden bed engineered to last for years

No experience needed β we've designed this workshop to welcome both first-time makers and experienced craftspeople. You'll work with professional-grade tools under expert guidance, ensuring your finished bed is something to be proud of. Whether you're planning to grow vegetables, herbs, or flowers, you'll leave with a professionally crafted raised bed ready for its first growing season.
The two-hour session combines practical instruction with hands-on building time. We keep our class size small (maximum 12 participants) to ensure everyone gets the personal attention needed to succeed. You'll learn proper tool usage, safe working practices, and construction techniques that you can apply to future projects.
Your finished bed can be disassembled for easy transport, and we'll show you how to reassemble it at home. We also offer delivery within Columbia city limits for an additional fee if you'd prefer not to transport it yourself.
$100 per person includes all materials and tools. Take the first step toward your garden dreams β join us for an evening of building something remarkable.
